Top of the Tower Of Stockholm City Hall. The 106 meter (348 ft) tall bell tower of the city hall stands as a beacon on the bay. Those who make the effort to climb its 365 steps are awarded with magnificent views over Stockholm and Gamla Stan in particular. The tower is crowned with a cupola, topped by a weathervane with three crowns (tre kronor) - the national emblem of Sweden. Inside the tower is the Tornmuseet or Tower Museum, which contains models of the many statues found in the city hall. It took almost 2.5 million bricks to build the tower, which weighs 24,000 tonnes, double the weight of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. 5 images merged to make 360 pano.
The lift stops halfway up the tower at the Tower Museum. Here you can see models of busts and statues found in other parts of the City Hall. After you have reached the Tower Museum, narrow passages and stairways lead up to the top of the tower. The last stairway is made of wood and on your
way up you pass the carillon machinery.
After the wooden stairway, you reach the viewpoint, which is enclosed by grating. The viewpoint is 240ft above sea level and you can walk around the whole tower, allowing you to see all of Stockholm. Up here you can also see four large sculptures, including Eric IX of Sweden (known as Eric the Saint), Stockholm’s patron saint.
